The Rope Runner's mission is to inspire and educate millions by using her unique platform to draw attention to the subject of Human Trafficking - taking hands with an organization called Love Justice International. Through her extraordinary feats in Rope Running and her motivational talks at various platforms, she aims to bring about international awareness and encourage people to open their hearts to hear her story. Her goal is to make a global impact and inspire positive change.

She made history in 2025 by completing her first rope running marathon in Cape Town—an extraordinary achievement where she ran and skipped simultaneously. She became the first woman to attempt this unique challenge and the first person ever to complete a full marathon while skipping.

​

But that was only the beginning. In April, she completed the grueling Two Oceans Marathon, a 56km race, and in June, she conquered the legendary 89km Comrades Marathon—all while skipping every single step. In doing so, she set three world records, marking a groundbreaking moment in endurance sports.

These incredible feats solidified her status as a trailblazer in both athletic and humanitarian efforts.

Marissa dedicated her journey to a cause deeply close to her heart—Love Justice International, an organization fighting against the global crisis of human trafficking. Love Justice’s pioneering work in transit monitoring intercepts victims before they are trafficked across borders, ensuring their safety and reuniting them with their families. Their life-saving efforts have impacted thousands, and Marissa was proud to partner with them throughout her campaign.

Her motivation was deeply personal. Having witnessed the devastating impact of trafficking through her mother’s work—restoring dignity to women rescued from trafficking in Asia—Marissa was inspired to use her platform to make a difference.

As The Rope Runner, she used every skip, every jump, and every finish line to raise awareness and fight for those who couldn't.

By the end of 2025, her aim is to raise R500,000, directly contributing to the protection of 200 lives from the horrors of human trafficking.

 

Her campaign not only shatters athletic boundaries but also gives hope to the most vulnerable.
